Absurdly simple and yet useful: wood shavings! Its great for burnishing items you turned on the lathe.

Take a pinch or small handful of shavings and rub them gently behind your ear…

The shavings make great ear plugs too, or put them in your coffee, they’re tasty too.

Last week I kept losing my pencil and my square under the wood I was working so a scrap gut a 6mm hole and a channel down one side now the pencil and the square both stood up making them very visible.
