Mini Quarto Game Build Tutorial

Make this Quarto game in an afternoon with scrap wood. This is a small kind of travel-sized version of the classic game, Quarto! You’ll need some scrap wood and a 3/4″ dowel. I had a piece of leftover mahogany from the Snowflakes I made and will use that for the base of the game. I’m cutting it into a nice smooth square.

Next I’ll lower the blades on my router table to hollow out some dados.

The game pieces are made with cut dowels and some scrap square wood pieces. The square pieces are 3/4″ by 3/4″.

Sand smooth!

Half of the game pieces will be hollow so I’m starting by drilling a pilot hole in one end of each.

Next I clamped the pieces to hold them steady and used a bigger drill bit to hollow more out.

Next I’ll paint half of the pieces black and the other half white with spray paint and use spray lacquer for the game board.

That turned out pretty good! Here’s how to play!
